Pathology Administrator | Spire Norwich Hospital | Full Time | Mon - Fri | Some Saturdays | 37.5 | Permanant
Job Purpose:
Spire Norwich Hospital are seeking an Administator to assist and work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide an exemplary pathology service within the Hospital site, inclusive of Wards, Outpatient Department and Theatres, whilst supporting the Pathology Manager and Clinical leads to ensure that the below outlined specific responsibilities are safely managed.
Accountabilities
1. Report factual data and information to Pathology manager and to consultant/secretarial colleagues
2. Establish and maintain communication with people on routine pathology issues
3. Contribute to own personal development.
4. Assist in maintaining own and others’ health and safety and security.
5. Assist in maintaining, developing and contribute to the implementation of any future pathology services.
6. Ensure own actions help to maintain quality.
7. Plan, monitor and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens incl. blood and tissues samples
8. Ensure own actions support equality, diversity and rights.
9. Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCCI
10. Package and record all hospital pathology samples for onward transportation in a safe and timely manner
11. Collates and produces pathology information as requested, causing minimum disruption to others working within the pathology setting
12. Report any problems to the appropriate person as soon as possible.
13. Store pathology information safely and in a format that allows immediate retrieval.
14. Support point of care testing in conjunction with Hospital Point of Care Testing Lead
15. Support blood transfusion and Haemobank management in conjunction with Hospital Transfusion Lead
16. Perform daily temperature checks of blood storage and change chart on the recorder if present
17. Receipting and dispatch of blood products into the blood bank
18. Work with hub laboratories and clinical teams to maintain cold chain
19. Support control of blood stocks on advice Blood Transfusion Lead BMS
20. Support blood movement of products via blood track if installed and ensure the blood track printer has labels
21. General cleaning of the blood bank/ haemobank
22. Identify the specimen, blood or tissue correctly and accurately throughout the journey within and out of the hospital.

24. Computer IT skills
25. Patient/customer facing experience

28. Venepuncture experience
