Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person with relevant experience and skills to join our Monitoring Laboratory based in Leeds. You will directly contribute to the Environment Agency response to climate change by working within a small team to analyze solid and liquid environmental samples.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a team delivering a high‑quality analytical service to defined time, cost and quality targets.
* Analyze samples using a variety of extraction techniques and state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation.
* Keep work areas tidy and ensure Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
* Carry out routine laboratory tasks such as routine calibrations, stock control and making of analytical standards.
* Attend sites, which may include overnight stays, as part of the Waste team.
* Participate in the pollution incident rota.
Qualifications and Skills
* Good communication skills are essential.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads.
* Experience working within a team.
* Problem‑solving skills are preferable.
* Experience in a quality standard or UKAS accredited laboratory is desirable but not essential.
Training and Development
Full training in asbestos analysis will be provided, enabling the successful candidate to work towards asbestos qualifications P401, P402 and P403.
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence.
* Successful candidate must carry out a colour vision test.
