Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management - 31666
The Environment Agency is committed to an inclusive workforce and values diversity. This role focuses on informing and shaping the future of Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes, with emphasis on delivering Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) and related policy design and delivery within the wider context of government reviews and EA2023/EA2030 strategy.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice in meetings, manage commissions, and oversee programme milestones.
* Identify risks, resource requirements, and opportunities across multiple teams and organisations, including senior leaders.
* Influence design and delivery of incentives within ELM in collaboration with Defra and delivery partners.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of CSHT through design and delivery enhancements.
* Work across internal and external stakeholders to articulate a scheme that supports outcomes and regulatory objectives.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies is essential.
* Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
* Understanding of environmental sensitivities associated with major agriculture sector reform.
* Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose risk-based solutions for complex problems.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work; self-starter who develops ideas and moves them forward.
* Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to get things done through others, embody the culture, and build trusted information-sharing practices.

* Location: EA Office base with flexible/hybrid working in England; some travel may be required.
* Incident management objective included in development plan; appropriate training provided.
