Decom Engineering is a fast-growing provider of innovative R&D and engineering solutions to the energy industry, specialising in our subsea Chopsaw range and custom-built equipment. With a current focus on the IMR & decommissioning sector, we support major offshore projects across Australia, the USA, Brazil, the North Sea, and the Far East.
Following a number of recent contract wins, we are seeking a Workshop Technician with strong mechanical and hydraulic skills to join our dynamic team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our workshop team, your responsibilities will include:
•Building, assembling, and preparing specialist equipment for mobilisation to global projects.
•Interpreting general assembly drawings and hydraulic schematics to carry out repairs, upgrades, and commissioning.
•Preparing and testing tools to ensure operational readiness and compliance with quality standards.
•Troubleshooting and modifying tools in collaboration with our engineering team to meet specific project needs.
•Rigging up and down equipment for demonstration, mobilisation, and project completion.
•Performing cosmetic refurbishments, including rust removal, priming, and painting.
•Responsible for maintaining workshop stock control processes
•Upholding high standards of safety and cleanliness in the workshop.
•Participating in safety, maintenance, and project planning meetings.
•Progressing to lead offshore technician role for cutting scopes.
Strong mechanical and hydraulic aptitude with a hands-on background.
•Flexibility to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively across local and virtual teams.
•Competency with Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
•Fluent in spoken and written English.
Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.
•Familiarity with SolidWorks and 2D CAD (for viewing and interpreting drawings).
•Forklift licence (training provided if needed).
