The Opportunity A skilled and motivated Project Engineer is required to join a dynamic engineering team working across gas infrastructure projects nationwide. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the successful candidate will manage projects from feasibility through to commissioning, ensuring technical integrity, safety compliance, and commercial success.
This is a key role with exposure to all stages of project development — from design and planning to on-site delivery and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Lead full-cycle delivery of gas infrastructure projects, including installations
* Maintain detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines
* Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
Engineering & Design
* Prepare functional specifications, drawings, and supporting documentation
* Perform engineering calculations to recognised industry standards
* Review and approve contractor designs and submittals
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure all works comply with relevant UK codes and safety regulations
* Participate in hazard and risk reviews
* Support permit allocation and regulatory documentation
Installation & Commissioning
* Oversee site installation and commissioning activities
* Conduct inspections, testing and site troubleshooting
* Provide technical support during startup and project handover
Stakeholder Engagement
* Liaise with customers, authorities, and third parties
* Provide technical updates and reporting
* Contribute to bid and proposal preparation with engineering input
What we’re looking for
* Recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM) or suitable experience
* Previous experience in project engineering (gas distribution or transmission, LPG, oil & gas, or similar)
* Strong working knowledge of gas flow systems and technology
* Skilled in CAD, MS Project, and relevant engineering tools
* Excellent communication and reporting skills
* Willingness to travel
* Full UK driving licence
