Otium Construction is a fast-growing principal contractor delivering high-quality residential, commercial, refurbishment, structural, civil engineering and new-build projects across Reading, Henley-on-Thames, London and the Home Counties.
While many construction businesses talk about growth, we're already delivering it.
In a short period of time, we've built a reputation for quality, professionalism and reliability, working alongside architects, structural engineers, councils, developers and private clients on a diverse range of projects. With a team of elite tradespeople, experienced project leaders and ambitious growth plans, we're on track to significantly increase turnover over the coming years.
As the business continues to scale, we're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants more than just another QS role.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the commercial function, influence business decisions and ultimately develop into a Commercial Director position as the company grows.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll become the commercial backbone of the business, ensuring projects remain profitable, controlled and commercially robust from tender stage through to final account.
You'll work across multiple projects while helping establish the systems, processes and commercial controls needed to support significant future growth.
This role would suit an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys both project-level commercial management and broader business leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial performance of multiple construction projects from tender through to final account.
Prepare and review tenders, valuations, variations, cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
Monitor project budgets, profitability, risks and opportunities to maximise project margins.
Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, payments and commercial negotiations.
Produce estimates, cost plans and BOQs to support project delivery and business growth.
Support contract administration, commercial reporting and strategic decision-making.
Develop and improve commercial systems, processes and controls as the business scales.

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
Strong commercial management experience across multiple projects.
Experience with tendering, estimating, valuations, variations and final accounts.
Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement and commercial negotiations.
Excellent cost planning, forecasting and reporting skills.
