Senior Drainage Engineer
Location: Bristol (with options in Liverpool or Birmingham)
Rate: £45-£50 per hour
Contract: Rolling 3-month contract
You're a drainage engineer who enjoys tackling complex surface water challenges on major infrastructure schemes - this is a role where you can genuinely add value from day one. We are working with a leading engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to support a portfolio of large-scale civil projects. This contract role focuses on surface water and temporary drainage design, offering exposure to technically interesting work beyond standard pipe systems.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in delivering drainage solutions across a range of live projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are robust, practical, and compliant.
* Producing surface water drainage designs for major civil and infrastructure schemes
* Supporting temporary works and interim design solutions
* Using InfoDrainage and Civil 3D to develop and refine designs
* Undertaking site assessments and resolving technical challenges
* Designing drainage features including basins, ditches, pumping systems, and treatment processes
* Ensuring all work aligns with current standards and regulatory requirements
* Preparing clear and accurate technical reports and supporting documentation
About You
To be considered, you should have:
* Proven experience in drainage design, ideally within highways or major civils
* Strong working knowledge of InfoDrainage and Civil 3D
* Experience delivering surface water solutions beyond standard pipe networks
* Ability to produce detailed technical documentation
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively
* A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification
This role requires office attendance at least three days per week, with flexibility across Bristol, Liverpool, or Birmingham locations.
