The role
Cotswold Energy Group is a growing business operating in the sustainable energy sector, supporting domestic customers and commercial organisations with practical, future-focused energy solutions. The business is focused on helping customers improve the efficiency, performance and sustainability of their homes and buildings through technologies such as heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, energy storage, underfloor heating and wider low-carbon energy solutions. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a hands-on Marketing Lead to help build and deliver the marketing function, with a particular focus on growing the able-to-pay residential customer market while also supporting B2B activity across the group. The Opportunity This is a broad, hands-on marketing role for someone who wants to make a visible impact in a small, growing and purpose-led business. You will not be joining a large corporate marketing department with big teams, fixed processes and narrow responsibilities. Instead, this is an opportunity to help shape and build marketing activity from the ground up, working across the full marketing mix and directly supporting business growth. The role would suit a second-stage marketer who has already built strong experience across campaigns, content, CRM, email and social media, and is now looking for a role with more ownership, variety and commercial influence. You will be supported by external consultants for specialist digital performance activity such as PPC and SEO, but you will be expected to own the marketing plan, coordinate delivery, create content, manage campaigns and ensure activity is aligned with commercial priorities. The Role The Marketing Lead will take ownership of day-to-day marketing activity across Cotswold Energy Group, supporting both B2C and B2B audiences. A key focus will be driving growth in the able-to-pay residential market: homeowners interested in technologies such as heat pumps, solar, batteries, energy storage and other sustainable energy solutions. Alongside this, the role will support commercial and B2B marketing activity across relevant business areas. You will work closely with the leadership and sales teams to turn business objectives into effective marketing campaigns. This will include social media, email marketing, CRM activity, content creation, campaign planning, customer communications, lead generation and supplier management. This is a hands-on delivery role. You will be planning, writing, coordinating, launching, measuring and improving campaigns, while helping to create the systems, processes and structure needed for marketing to scale. Key Responsibilities · Develop and deliver a practical marketing plan that supports brand awareness, lead generation, customer engagement and sales growth. · Lead integrated marketing campaigns across B2C and B2B audiences. · Drive marketing activity focused on able-to-pay residential customers interested in sustainable home energy solutions. · Plan and manage social media activity, including content calendars, campaign messaging, posting schedules, engagement and performance reporting. · Create and deliver email marketing campaigns, including segmentation, copywriting, scheduling, testing and results analysis. · Support CRM-led marketing activity, including customer journeys, lead nurturing, data quality and campaign follow-up. · Create engaging content across multiple formats, including web copy, blogs, case studies, customer communications, email, social media, campaign landing pages and sales collateral. · Work closely with sales and operational teams to understand customer needs, campaign priorities and lead quality. · Manage third-party suppliers, freelancers and consultants where required, including specialist support for PPC, SEO and digital performance. · Coordinate campaign activity across digital, content, CRM, website, events and sales enablement channels. · Track, analyse and report on marketing performance, using insight to improve campaign effectiveness. · Maintain brand consistency across all marketing communications. · Help establish marketing processes, reporting, templates and ways of working as the function develops. · Monitor competitor activity, sector trends and customer behaviour within the energy, renewables and sustainability markets. What We Offer Salary of £40,000–£45,000 per annum. Hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week based in Stonehouse. Opportunity to take real ownership of marketing activity in a growing business. Varied role covering brand, digital, CRM, content, campaigns and sales enablement. The chance to work in a sector focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. Requirements You will be a commercially minded, hands-on marketer who enjoys variety and ownership. You will be comfortable operating in a small business environment where priorities can move quickly and where marketing activity needs to be practical, focused and measurable. You will be someone who can think strategically but is also happy to get things done yourself. One day you may be planning a campaign, the next writing email copy, briefing a supplier, reviewing CRM data, creating social content or working with sales on lead follow-up. You will understand how to speak to both consumer and business audiences, and you will know how to turn products, services and customer needs into clear, compelling marketing messages. Essential Experience · Proven experience in a Marketing Lead, Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Executive, Campaign Manager or similar hands-on marketing role. · Experience working across both B2C and B2B marketing. · Strong experience delivering social media, email and multi-channel campaigns. · Experience creating campaign plans, content calendars and customer communications. · Strong content creation and copywriting skills across email, social, web, blogs, case studies and sales materials. · Experience using CRM systems to support marketing activity, lead nurturing or customer communications. · Good understanding of campaign performance, lead generation and marketing reporting. · Ability to work closely with sales teams and translate commercial goals into practical marketing activity. · Experience managing multiple campaigns, projects and stakeholders at once. · Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. · Comfortable working in a hands-on role with limited internal marketing resource. · Able to work from the Stonehouse office 2–3 days per week. Desirable Experience · Experience using Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a similar CRM/marketing automation platform. · Experience in the energy, renewables, sustainability, home improvement, construction, property, utilities or technical services sectors. · Experience marketing products or services to homeowners. · Experience managing external marketing suppliers, consultants, freelancers or agencies. · Understanding of PPC, SEO and digital performance marketing, with the ability to brief and manage specialists rather than act as the technical expert. · Experience supporting events, webinars, trade shows, local marketing or community engagement activity. · Experience creating marketing processes or helping to build a marketing function in a growing business. Skills and Attributes · Hands-on, proactive and delivery focused. · Commercially aware and results driven. · Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Confident creating content and campaign messaging. · Able to work across the full marketing mix without being restricted to one channel. · Comfortable in a small business environment with limited budgets and evolving processes. · Creative, pragmatic and able to bring structure to marketing activity. · Data-aware, with the ability to review performance and recommend improvements. · Collaborative and confident working with sales, operations and senior stakeholders. · Interested in sustainability, energy efficiency and the future of low-carbon technologies. Benefits What We Offer · Salary of £40,000–£45,000 per annum. · Hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week based in Stonehouse. · A broad, high-ownership marketing role in a growing sustainable energy business. · The opportunity to help build a marketing function from the ground up. · Exposure to the full marketing mix, rather than being limited to one channel or specialism. · Support from external consultants for specialist digital activity. · The chance to work in a sector with long-term growth, innovation and sustainability at its core. How to Apply If you are a hands-on marketer with strong B2C and B2B campaign experience, and you are looking for a role where you can build, shape and deliver marketing activity in a growing sustainability-focused business, we would be pleased to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and a short note outlining your relevant marketing experience.
