This is a rare opportunity for an experienced probate professional to step into a senior leadership position within a growing organisation operating in the Wills and Probate space. Our client is looking for someone with strong probate expertise who feels ready to move beyond day-to-day case management and take on a broader leadership role overseeing legal quality, compliance and the development of probate services. The position sits at Head of Legal level within the organisation, giving you the chance to shape the legal function, support the development of the probate team and contribute to the future growth of the business. You won’t be expected to manage a full personal caseload. Instead, your experience will be used to guide the team, advise on complex matters and ensure the highest standards of legal delivery across the organisation. This role would suit someone currently working as a Senior Probate Case Manager, Probate Team Leader, Probate Specialist or Private Client professional who feels ready to take the next step into a senior legal leadership role.The Role Working closely with senior management, you will take responsibility for the legal oversight of probate services within the organisation. You will act as the internal legal lead, supporting the team on complex matters while helping ensure compliance, consistency and quality across all probate work. This is a strategic and people-focused role suited to someone who enjoys mentoring others, improving processes and helping legal teams perform at their best.Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Oversight
* Provide technical guidance and support on complex probate and estate administration matters
* Act as the escalation point for legal queries from the probate team
* Ensure high standards of legal accuracy, process and client care across the service
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure the organisation maintains appropriate legal and regulatory compliance
* Monitor developments within probate and private client law
* Support the maintenance of professional standards and CPD across the legal team
Leadership & Team Development
* Mentor and support probate professionals within the team
* Identify development needs and help build capability within the department
* Promote a collaborative, ethical and supportive working environment
Strategic Contribution
* Work with senior leadership to develop and improve probate services
* Contribute to operational improvements and service innovation
* Support the growth and scaling of the organisation’s legal offering
About You You will already have strong probate experience and be confident advising on estate administration matters. Most importantly, you will feel ready to move into a role where you can influence how legal services are delivered and help guide the development of a growing probate team. You may currently be working as a:
* Senior Probate Case Manager
* Probate Team Leader
* Probate Specialist
* Private Client Executive
* Probate Fee Earner
You will likely bring:
* Strong experience in Wills, Probate or Private Client work
* The ability to advise on complex probate matters

* A strong understanding of legal processes, compliance and risk

The Package Location: Hertfordshire.
