Overview

The Institutional Client Group (ICG) serves a broad range of institutional clients—including asset managers, hedge funds, corporations, governments, and financial institutions—by delivering strategic financial solutions across capital markets, advisory, and transaction services. Analysts in this group play a critical role in supporting client coverage teams by analyzing financial data, identifying opportunities, and helping deliver tailored solutions across a variety of industries and geographies.


ICG Analyst Development Program

The ICG Analyst Development Program is designed to develop foundational skills within U.S. Bank’s Institutional Credit Group (ICG). Analysts will receive structured credit training and gain exposure to core credit processes, relationship management, and portfolio management throughout this multi-year program.


First Year Program Highlights

* Tailored Credit Training with a focused curriculum covering credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, and U.S. Bank’s lending philosophy.
* Contribute to live credit transactions and portfolio reviews that support client and business decisions.
* Learn how we build and maintain strong client partnerships, and how credit supports long-term relationship management.
* Work alongside experienced credit officers and relationship managers who will guide your growth.
* Gain firsthand exposure to the Relationship Management function by supporting client interactions, understanding strategic account planning, and observing how relationship managers drive client success.
* Participate in ongoing product training to gain a working knowledge of the broader Bank and key cross-sell functions connected to ICG.

Structured Career Path: After the first year in the ICG Analyst Development Program, participants are strategically placed into either Credit Analyst or Relationship Management Analyst roles, allowing for focused development aligned with individual strengths and career aspirations.

* Credit Analyst: Collaborates with Portfolio Managers to evaluate financial performance, assess credit risk, and deliver insights that guide sound lending decisions and strengthen the bank’s portfolio.
* Relationship Management Analyst: Supports Relationship Managers and business development efforts by coordinating solutions and identifying product offerings for the bank’s clients.


Key Responsibilities

* Prepare financial statement spreads, quarterly trend analyses, monitoring reports, and covenant tests in accordance with bank standards and credit policy.
* Conduct research and reporting using internal and external platforms to identify sector trends, risks, and opportunities.
* Analyze financial disclosures to support credit assessments and client evaluations.
* Monitor client risk profiles and contribute to internal assessments that inform credit decisions and product delivery.
* Support Portfolio Managers in preparing and presenting credit requests and sector reviews.
* Maintain compliance databases tracking financial reporting requirements, credit agreement terms, and key credit metrics.
* Assist Relationship Managers and Coverage Bankers with industry research, marketing materials, and client outreach strategies.
* Prepare client-facing materials including pitch books, briefing memos, and financial analyses.
* Maintain internal reporting tools such as pipeline trackers and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
* Build technical and business acumen through structured training, mentorship, and peer engagement.


Who We’re Looking For

U.S. Bank is looking for motivated self-starters with demonstrated leadership, a strong work ethic, and intellectual curiosity—ready to make an impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree completed prior to start date (or equivalent experience with up to 1 year in finance or analytics)
* Strong foundation in financial and accounting principles
* Available to start on July 13, 2026


Preferred Qualifications

* GPA of 3.0 or higher
* Prior experience in banking, credit, financial analysis, or sales
* Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
* Relationship building skills
* Attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
* Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
* Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Salesforce
* Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation date between December 2025 –June 2026


Working Model

This is a hybrid role, with analysts typically spending three days per week in-office and the remainder remotely. The program is full-time, approximately 40 hours per week.
