Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on a major programme of work for QinetiQ delivering testing and evaluation consultancy services in the areas of hydrodynamics, submarine escape and evacuation and maritime structures. You will be key to the delivery of technical projects relating to the design and analysis of submarine structures and will use numerical tools to improve the current UK fleet and future platforms. You will develop deliverables, design reports, documentation and brief the customer on findings.
Responsibilities
* Develop capabilities in your working area and mentor others.
* Apply subject‑matter expertise and engineering judgement to solve problems.
* Break down complex tasks and execute the planned schedule of work.
* Manage the project/programme to deliver within agreed quality, timescale and budget.
* Give technical presentations and talk knowledgeably in external forums, conferences and customer meetings.
Essential Experience
* Demonstrable experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
* Understanding of structural assessment, preferably maritime structures.
Essential Qualifications
* BEng / MEng in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering, or equivalent knowledge from previous experience.
