Welcome to our Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) Band 5 role

* Are you newly qualified and looking to start your first role as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT)?
* Or are you an experienced Band 5 looking for a new opportunity, challenge and to develop specialist clinical skills?
* Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people with SLCN?

If you answered yes, we have got the perfect role for you! Due to new investment this year Children & Young People’s Therapies at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) is growing. As a Band 5 SLT, you will provide assessment and intervention to children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs. You will work across a variety of settings, from mainstream schools/early years settings to community clinics. You will work collaboratively with education staff within settings and also have the opportunity to work within special school settings alongside experienced therapists.

You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills in areas such as ASD, DLD and speech disorders, and cleft palate. Our service offers support for both newly qualified graduates and experienced returners through a structured induction and continuous development.


Core Responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive assessment and intervention for children and young people with diverse speech, language and communication needs.
* Work across mainstream schools, early years settings, community clinics and special schools.
* Collaborate with education staff and multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver evidence‑based care plans.
* Develop and maintain expertise in ASD, DLD, speech disorders and cleft palate management.


Qualifications & Experience

* Band 5 SLT qualification (either newly qualified or experienced).
* Strong communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
* Team player with the ability to work autonomously and champion the needs of patients.
* Full valid driving licence and access to a car for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
* Flexible for full‑time or part‑time work.
