Main duties of the job
As our Senior Social Worker, you will:
Lead and manage a small team of Social Workers, offering supervision, mentorship, and professional development support.
Promote excellence in social work practice, delivering high-quality, holistic support to patients and families facing life-limiting illness and bereavement.
Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to patient-centred care planning and ethical decision-making.
Provide education and training both within the hospice and externally, supporting the development of best practices in palliative and end-of-life social care.
Serve as the Organisational Lead for Safeguarding Adults and Children, ensuring robust safeguarding policies and practices across the organisation.
Act as the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Lead, supporting staff through guidance, education, supervision, audits, and service development.
Lead on quality improvement initiatives, audits, and the development of policies to enhance our psychosocial and safeguarding services.

Person Specification
Qualifications Skills Knowledge and Experience
* Hold a recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work or equivalent), with significant post-qualification experience, including experience in palliative or end-of-life care.
* Active and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within adult social care, including the ability to manage a small team and develop staff.
* Qualification as a social work practice educator, or willingness to undertake training to become one.
