Role Purpose
This role combines the knowledge and skills set of Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Liaison Officer, to support the business unit and group procurement strategy in terms of supplier selection, development and growth of a robust global supply chain to meet existing and future business requirements.
Supplier Development Engineer
Salary: From £41,520 - £45,649
This opportunity, based at our Prestwick site offers:

Responsibilities
14. To provide expertise in collation of engineering data packs and manufacturing methods for business unit and global sourcing strategies.
15. Analysis of work statements – new & recurring to support identification of potential supply base solutions.
16. Support technical assessment phase for RFP submissions from suppliers reviewing manufacturing plans and technical capability.
17. Act as lead interface in supplier technical & risk assessment process prior to contract award (352/353 process) and manage gap analysis as part of supplier development enablement plans taking full cognisance of political and economical conditions.
18. Support capability and capacity insertion reviews with suppliers in conjunction with procurement.
19. Support supplier negotiations and workshops in terms of price challenge through value engineering reviews – manufacturing hours quoted versus should hours.
20. Lead interface with customer for transfer management on supplier transfers (relocations) including project management of package & approval insertion.
21. To provide expertise in support of supplier requests for assistance either in development of manufacturing strategies or general work statement engineering queries and quality problems.
22. Provide LAI, FAI and quality support in supply base as required both for business unit and group, providing expertise in flow down of quality requirements.
23. Support value engineering workshops with suppliers to identify continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
24. Provide support to supplier business readiness process.
25. Support Spirit Malaysia with digital data integrity audits ensuring controlled process is in place to receive and distributing data.
26. Support integration of global sourcing strategies.
27. Support customer driven value engineering workshops to identify cost reduction and lean opportunities.
28. To provide support to general engineering queries at business unit level (IPT’s).
29. To provide specialist support to business unit manufacturing & engineering strategies – NC Programming, Automation strategy.
30. Lead supplier impact analysis on major engineering changes / re-design.
31. To support and contribute if require to the business unit Quality & Engineering review mechanism ensuring focus on improvement and ensure that all key quality & engineering issues are escalated within the business review structure to drive root cause correction.
32. Support the identification of training and development requirements of Supplier Development Engineering staff through the PDR process.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
33. Preferably be qualified to HNC level in a related Quality /Manufacturing Engineering discipline or equivalent
34. Or have 5 years relevant experience, within a Quality/Manufacturing Engineering or Supply Chain Management environment.
35. Should also possess knowledge of AS 9100 as well as regulatory authority approval, and certification requirements.
36. Good communication skills – ability to interface effectively with customers and Suppliers.
37. Knowledge of engineering systems and the ability to deploy the Quality Toolset.
38. Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean tool sets
39. Awareness of drawings and systems as applied within our major customers such as Boeing and Airbus is preferable at the senior level
