Salary: £100-130k
My client is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer to lead and shape their organisation’s privacy strategy and governance framework.
This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing compliance with UK GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, acting as the primary point of contact for regulators and data subjects, and ensuring robust privacy practices across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the organisation’s data privacy function and governance framework
* Advising on privacy impact assessments, data mapping, and records of processing
* Overseeing vendor and third-party data protection compliance
* Managing data subject rights requests, including DSARs
* Leading privacy audits and incident response relating to personal data
* Monitoring regulatory developments and advising senior stakeholders accordingly
* Delivering privacy training and promoting a strong data protection culture
* Managing and developing a high-performing privacy team
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience (7+ years) in compliance, legal, audit, or risk roles, with recent hands-on privacy leadership experience. Relevant data protection certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, BCS) are preferred.
You will be confident advising senior leadership, highly detail-oriented, commercially aware, and able to communicate complex privacy concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Experience within a consumer-facing business environment is advantageous.
