Inthis pivotal position, you will play a central role in developing anddelivering a proactive, robust approach to clinical governance, qualityimprovement and infection prevention. Working closely with senior leaders,youll ensure our clinical services not only meet regulatory requirements butconsistently deliver safe, highquality care that patients can rely on.
In thispivotal role, youll work closely with the Head of Governance, Compliance andRisk to strengthen and evolve a robust, forward-thinking framework for clinicalquality, patient safety, IPC (Infection Prevention & Control), risk andgovernance. Your expertise will help ensure our hospital not only meetsregulatory standards but consistently delivers safe, highquality care thatpatients can trust.
You willalso provide direct line management to the IPC Lead Nurse/Practitioner andGovernance Coordinators, leading by example to ensure excellence across ourgovernance functions.
Main duties of the job
As our Clinical Governance Lead you will:
* Champion the delivery of impactful quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and service experience.
* Guide clinical teams in embedding learning from incidents, patient feedback and emerging trends to drive safer, smarter practice.
* Oversee the implementation of the hospital-wide Infection Prevention & Control programme, ensuring compliance, efficiency and clear progress reporting to the DIPC.
* Lead and support Governance Coordinators and the IPC Lead Nurse/Practitioner to ensure key operational functions run smoothly and effectively.
* Maintain sharp awareness of all relevant regulatory requirementsensuring actions are taken, compliance is upheld and standards are consistently exceeded.
* Oversee the Patient Experience function, ensuring complaints are expertly managed and progressed in line with policy.
* Manage clinical claims processes, promoting organisational learning and embedding improvements.
* Support the development, review and rollout of clinical policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.
* Play a key role in investigating incidents, themes and feedbackhelping ensure that lessons are learned, shared and actively implemented.

Job responsibilities
Purpose:To work with and support the Head of Governance, Compliance andRisk in delivering the on-going development of a proactive and robust clinicalquality, safety, IPC, compliance and governance framework that enables theHospital to measure and continuously improve the quality of the clinicalservices. Responsible for line managementof the hospitals IPC Lead Nurse/Practitioner, ensuring the hospitalsInfection Prevention Control programme is effectively delivered and embedded.
The post holder will:
Be responsible for supportingthe identification and the delivery of a wide variety of quality improvementsthat will improve outcomes for patients and their carers.
Provide quality improvementguidance and supports the clinical services directorate in embedding changes topractice because of the identification of
incidents and patient feedback trends.
Be responsible for overseeing theimplementation of the hospitals IPC programme, supporting the IPC Lead Nurse/Practitionerand providing assurance to the DIPC that all milestones are being met and thatprocesses are efficient and effective.
Be responsible for theday-to-day line management of the Governance Coordinators and IPC Lead Nurse/Practitioner,ensuring all key delegated functions are undertaken effectively.
Demonstrate sound awarenessof all relevant regulatory requirements for the hospital, implementing key actionsappropriately to ensure that these are fully adhered to, and compliance ismaintained
Be responsible for thePatient Experience functions, ensuring that complaints are managed and movethrough process as per policy.
Be responsible for claimsmanagement processes and embedding associated learning.
Actively support thedevelopment and review of related clinical policies, procedures and bestpractice guidelines.
Actively support in theinvestigation and sharing lessons learned from incidents, complaints andfeedback.
Key Result Areas

Undertake a wide range of workprocedures using complex information requiring the use of initiative, accuracyand analysis
Review reported clinical andIPC incidents, identifying the severity and actions taken to resolve. Support hospital staff when undertakingincident reviews
Ensuring lessons learned areidentified. Monitor and analyse fortrends. Ensuring change to practise has been implemented and measured to ensureembedded
Responsible for the PatientExperience function ensuring that Friends & Family is collated and reportedon, in a comprehensive way and feedback is gathered from our patients.
Monitor and ensurefeedback/complaints are managed in accordance with policy, ensure learning iscarried forward and embedded within the hospital.
Manage PROMS and the PatientInformation Group and process within the organisation.
Responsible for ClaimsManagement and liaising with Hospital insurers
Support the HoG with a widerange of compliance in relation to relevant national and local standardsensuring all supporting evidence is always prepared and is readily available
Workwith the IPC Lead Nurse/Practitioner to ensure the hospitals IPC workprogramme, outcome measures and audit schedule is adhered to and evidence ofcompliance available to the hospital DIPC
Collate reports in relationto Clinical Governance that provide a comprehensive and informed approach forthe hospital for Q&S, HE,MAC, Commissioners and BoD
Participate in the on-call rota

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health professional
* Educated to relevant degree level
* Ability to negotiate, influence and liaise effectively with staff at all levels
* Ability to manipulate, challenge and interpret complex data
* Ability to drive and implement processes of improvement.
* Ability to provide specialist knowledge to risk assessments and support appropriate controls
* Ability to keep abreast of and interpret national policy developments
* Clear understanding of risk management principles
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills including clear report writing and attention to detail
* Methodical and well organised with a high level of attention to detail
* Strong patient-centred approach
* Self-motivated with the ability to progress multiple tasks simultaneously, accurately and effectively.
