Job Description
New Directions Education are working with a primary school in Bebington who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their team until the end of the Autumn term (December 2025).
The successful candidate will support pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) difficulties and help them manage dysregulation in the classroom environment.
Role responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
2. Help pupils develop coping strategies and maintain focus in lessons
3. Support teachers in creating a calm, nurturing classroom environment
4. Work collaboratively with the SENCO and wider staff team
What we’re looking for:
5. Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs (essential)
6. Understanding of emotional regulation strategies and positive behaviour support
7. Team Teach qualification (advantageous but not essential)
8. A patient, compassionate and resilient approach

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
23. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
24. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
25. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
26. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
27. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
