Theatre Practitioner with Anaesthetics AA

We are currently looking for hardworking, enthusiastic, and friendly people with a Diploma in ODP NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds 752, or a 1st Level Nurse with a current anaesthetic competency certificate to join our fast‑paced Acute Theatre Suite. All applicants must be a member of the UK HCPC or UK NMC register.

Hours will be worked to meet the needs of the service and will include shift, weekend, and rotational nights as required.

Our vision is to have a multi‑skilled workforce with rotation through Anaesthetics/Recovery and Scrub duties as qualifications/experience allows.

We offer a wide range of surgical specialties, including Maxillo‑Facial, ENT, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Trauma, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Urology and Paediatrics, covering elective and emergency procedures.

We have specialities that use robotic‑assisted surgical technology – a relatively new innovation within NHS Fife that is expected to evolve over time. We also provide a comprehensive anaesthetic assistant service covering operating theatres, emergency department resuscitation area, ECT unit, community dental unit, and interventional radiology as required.

The Fife Elective Orthopaedic Centre is a National Treatment Centre of Excellence opened in spring 2023 and hosts three theatres.

You should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work cohesively within a multidisciplinary team, and evidence of continuing professional development. Our department is supported by one full‑time and two part‑time clinical educators, and a part‑time education coordinator.

Theatres can be an intense, fast‑paced environment where a team‑working ethos is at the heart of the service we provide.

If you enjoy a challenge and would like to join this busy, friendly unit, then this may be the post for you.

Informal enquiries: Tel 01592 643355 Ext 28288 – ACLP Leah Wood; Ext 28954 – Team Lead Kirsty Russell.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

We offer flexible working and family‑friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, as well as candidates with long‑term conditions or who are neurodivergent, by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

To work in the United Kingdom, an individual must demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country, granted by the UK Visa & Immigration Service. As part of pre‑employment checks, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK, evidenced through routes such as visa, EU settled, or pre‑settled status. If you do not have the necessary eligibility, it might be possible to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa, provided the employer is a licensed sponsor and the post meets the minimum salary threshold.

It is essential that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored before submitting your application form.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
