This Locum Consultant post has been created to compliment and strengthen the existing team of surgeons working within the ENT Department at University Hospitals of Coventry & Warwickshire. The successful applicant must be committed to working flexibly within the department and will be expected to participate in the management of a General ENT Practice.
The University Hospitals Coventry Warwickshire NHS Trust is a teaching hospital and Major Trauma Centre at the centre of the Warwick Medical School. Excellent research facilities are available and there is a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.
Applicants are preferred to have an appropriate CCST or be on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register. Those who are in the process of obtaining their CCST at the date of the AAC are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
* This is a Locum ENT Consultant post for 12 months.
* Provide and further develop ENT services for the Trust in collaboration with colleagues in all disciplines, including primary and tertiary care, where appropriate, to provide an integrated service for patients.
* Take ongoing responsibility for patients under your care.
* Provide a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care.
* Participate in the development of the ENT service, treatment protocols and guidelines and the greater knowledge in the management of ENT conditions.
* Participate in the on‑call rota (1:12 shared with Warwick Hospital) to ensure appropriate emergency services are provided out‑of‑normal working hours. Use of a car is an essential requirement of this position as both University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital and Warwick Hospital have admitting ENT units.
Other Main Duties
* Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit; this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice.
* Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty. This will include the appraisal of middle and junior grade staff. Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate external agencies.
* Ensure your practice is up to date; this will include taking responsibility for your Clinical Professional Development and participating in the Trust’s Performance and Annual Review system.
* Share responsibility for data protection arising from the use of computers.
* Comply with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures.

This role includes a standard job plan comprising 8.5 direct clinical care programmed activities and 1.5 supporting professional activities. The on‑call component of this post will be included in the 10 session job plan.
