Overview
To provide 1:1 support to enable attendance at Youth Club on Sundays in Salford M6 and an extra-curricular activity during term time (likely Cubs in M44). Cubs is term time only; during school holidays the PA will be required to take the child out into the community. Day and time for this is flexible.
Responsibilities
* Support a child with autism, delayed motor skills and low self-esteem who is awaiting assessment for ADHD.
* Help the child regulate emotions, follow instructions, make friends, participate in group activities, and stay safe.
* De-escalate and redirect as needed and re-engage the child when disengaged.
* Support with social interaction and emotional regulation in home, community, and activity settings.
About Me

He is reluctant to leave the house, and particularly to participate in outdoor activities, but when he does, he enjoys being active, running, climbing and exploring. Other Relevant Information
Ideally the PA would be able to drive but it is not essential. The household does not smoke. The PA should not smoke during work hours.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience working with children with autism and/or social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* Patient, compassionate and proactive; able to de-escalate and redirect.
* Able to re-engage the child when they become disengaged and to set boundaries while encouraging positive behaviour. Experience in a similar role (paid or voluntary) is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of challenges faced by individuals with autism and ADHD.
* Training in de-escalation techniques (desirable).
* Good verbal communication and observation skills.
Hours, Rate and Scheduling
* Hourly Rate: £12.21 per hour.
* Hours per Week: 5 hours a week.
* Term time: Wednesday 6:45pm – 8:15pm and Sunday 11:00am – 2:30pm.
* School holidays: Sunday 11:00am – 2:30pm and 1.5 hours to be used flexibly in agreement with the PA.
