South Queen Street Medical Centre in Morley, Leeds have an exciting opportunity for a GP to join our friendly and supportive practice team, working 4 sessions per week. We are a practice based in Morley with excellent transport links into Leeds and further afield via the nearby M62. We are a PMS practice of 5000 patients.
We are looking for a confident and independent GP who is committed, enthusiastic and passionate about making a difference in primary care.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide personal medical services, managing a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
About us
We have a varied and passionate clinical team consisting of, 3 salaried GP's, 1 senior Partner, 1 ANP, 1 Practice Pharmacist, 1 Practice nurse and 2 HCA's who work alongside our excellent administration team.
We are part of the Morley & District Primary Care Network and are also a training practice for Foundation Doctors.
Job responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities:
* In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety ofduties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations andqueries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeatprescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in atimely fashion
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation topresenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiatedand undiagnosed problems
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs ofillness
* Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients andin line with current practice disease management protocols
* Providing counselling and health education
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload andreferring to other care providers as appropriate
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreedstandards
* Compiling and issuing electronic & computer-generated acuteand repeat prescriptions
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary(or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
* The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normalduties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primarycare.

Health &safety:
The post-holderwill implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of theirown and others’ health and safety and infection control as defined in thepractice health & safety policy, the practice health & safety manual,and the practice infection control policy. * Using personal security systems within the workplace according topractice guidelines
* Awareness of national standards of infection control andcleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, andgood practice guidelines
