Job Description:
The Role
To support us with the successful delivery of new and exciting projects, we are looking for a skilled Controls Engineer with experience integrating and programming industrial robotic systems. We are particularly seeking candidates with experience on Fanuc robots: commissioning, writing TP & Karel programs, and using them to solve complex industrial problems.
Our products are varied in scope and field. From simple machines processing a dedicated task, to complex customizable cells with many robots, production steps, and integrated technologies ranging from cameras, lasers, waterjet cutters, and chainsaws. Our bespoke machinery can be very complex, and each constituent part must operate seamlessly together.
As our new Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for developing software using a diverse codebase. We use a wide variety of industrial robotic and controls platforms, such as Fanuc and Kuka robots, Beckhoff and Siemens PLCs, and many other devices with their own environments and languages. You will be confident commissioning new equipment, following detailed manuals, and debugging electrical issues.
This role is dynamic; no two days or projects are the same. The successful applicant will have a passion for robotics and automation, be curious and inquisitive, and a natural problem solver. They will work independently to learn new technologies and have a knack for making things work.
Essential skills and experience
* 3+ years of experience programming Fanuc robots at an advanced level
* STEM degree, preferably engineering
* Experience using Roboguide
* Ability to communicate at a high technical level, in both written and verbal English
* Willingness, interest, and ability to rapidly learn new technology
* Able to work on own initiative and autonomously
* Competent diagnosing common electrical issues
* Willing and able to travel
Desirable skills and experience
* Experience commissioning and programming Siemens S7 PLCs and TIA Portal
* PLC programming in IEC 61131-3 languages (ST essential)
* Motion control, including VFD setup and drive tuning
* Functional Safety (designing, programming, validating)
* Experience with other industrial automation devices
