Summary: Based in our Rutland, VT plant, the Process Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and improvement of the shop floor. This position troubleshoots problems in production and takes corrective action. The Process Engineer will also lead planned improvement projects, which may include capital. Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Develop new procedures and improve existing ones to increase productivity, process repeatability, and cost control. Monitor and improve the efficiency, output, and safety of thermal spray processes through observations and measurements, as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel. Initiates the development and transfer of new processes to ensure that all customer requirements are met in production manufacture-ability. Develops measurable process improvement strategies. Develops and implements method changes that reduce production costs. Provide engineering support to quality-related issues, including but not limited to preventative actions, corrective actions, and FMEAs. Assesses and evaluates capital opportunities. Plans and manages assigned projects using appropriate tools such as MS Project. Maintains technical specifications files to ensure they are accurate and up to date. Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping. Performs other tasks as assigned by the position. Close collaboration with quality, manufacturing, planning, and scheduling, as well as corporate engineering. Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering functions. Experience with surface coatings preferred. This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder. Prefer experience in Lean – productivity improvements will be a key aspect of the role. The ability to interpret complex data, technical drawings, electrical diagrams, and customer specifications is highly desired. Strong Leadership skills complemented by excellent communication skills as demonstrated in work, school, etc. Good understanding of QMS system, knowledge of aerospace quality systems AS9100 and NADCAP would be an advantage. Intermediate/advanced experience of computer applications such as SolidWorks or other engineering CAD software.
