Offer description

Speciality Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAMHS), Dunfermline

We are seeking a Speciality Doctor in Psychiatry to work 10 sessions in Fife CAMHS, focusing on neurodevelopmental disorders. The role is divided into two parts: 5 sessions in the ADHD Tier 3 service and 5 sessions in the WEST CAMHS Core Team. The base will be at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, with occasional travel to Kirkcaldy.

The ADHD Tier 3 service is part of Community Paediatrics, comprising a multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, and psychologists. The service is supported by CAMHS psychiatrists and consultant cover for East Fife. Fife CAMHS includes experienced clinicians from various disciplines such as Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Child Psychotherapy, and Dietetics. The postholder will join an established team of Consultant Psychiatrists and a core trainee from the South East Scotland training scheme. The service is approved for Higher training from the Scottish National training scheme.

Our services include an Intensive Therapy Service for eating disorders, community support for children with complex mental health issues, and teams for self-harm, looked-after children, and those who have experienced sexual abuse. We value skill development, research, and knowledge sharing, offering opportunities for research support and training.

Recently, we implemented a redesigned Neurodevelopmental Pathway focusing on collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and education providers to support neurodivergent children beyond assessment.

Candidates must possess MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification and have an interest and training in neurodevelopmental disorders.

Fife’s central location offers easy access to Scottish countryside, leisure activities like golf and horse riding, excellent housing and education facilities, and proximity to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dundee. Assistance with relocation and a car leasing scheme are available.

A requirement for this role is to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all employees have the right to work in the UK. Non-UK or Irish nationals must confirm their right to work in their application. We support flexible working, family-friendly policies, and reasonable adjustments for disabled and neurodivergent candidates.

Legal entitlement to work in the UK must be demonstrated, which can be evidenced through various routes including visas and settled/pre-settled status. For more information, visit the GOV.UK website. Sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa may be available if the employer is a licensed sponsor, and certain salary thresholds are met. It is essential to verify your right to work before applying.

NHS Scotland promotes equality and diversity, welcoming applications from all sections of society.
