About the Role:
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with both the teaching staff and students, supporting children with a range of moderate to severe learning difficulties, including personal care needs. The class includes a mix of early years and Key Stage 1 students, some of whom may have additional behavioural challenges. Your role will focus on implementing individualised learning plans, providing tailored support to meet each child's needs, and helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with a range of moderate to severe learning difficulties, including personal care needs, fostering a positive, inclusive environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.
* Assist in developing and delivering individualised learning plans and tailored interventions, collaborating with teaching staff, families, and external professionals to ensure student progress and well-being.
* Monitor student progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed, while contributing to the improvement of teaching practices through reflective collaboration.
* Follow individual care and medical plans, including administering medication and assisting with personal care, while promoting independence and ensuring high standards of support.
* Utilise appropriate communication techniques to help students engage fully in activities under the direction of the class teacher.
Requirements:
* A genuine passion for working with special educational needs student, especially those with moderate to severe learning difficulties.
* Experience in a similar role or relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Primary SEN Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN qualifications) is preferred.
* Strong understanding of learning disabilities, with the ability to adapt strategies to meet individual needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
