Training Programme Director – Obstetrics & Gynaecology (KSS)

Job Summary
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Obstetrics & Gynaecology, with a focus on Trainees Requiring Additional Support (TRAS). This is a 1 PA/4 hours per week vacancy (paid pro‑rata for variations). The role works with the Head of School to lead delivery of functions aligned to the NHS England mandate, focusing on learner supervision, assessment, faculty engagement and future workforce transformation.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Training Programme.
* Address specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
* Recruitment to training posts and programmes.
* Manage postgraduate programme, including assessments, progression, rotations, support, remediation, OOP management, trainee career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training and related work‑streams.
* Focus on interventions for TRAS.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications:
* Fellowship of a College/Faculty, professional association and/or body.
* Attendance at educational development courses.
Desirable qualifications:
* PG Cert, diploma or Master of Medical Education.
Essential employment / experience:
* Experience working with learners/doctors in training in an educational context.
* Clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi‑professional team.
* Track record of delivering service and education.
* Understanding of developments involving relevant Colleges/Faculties and professional bodies.
* Knowledge of workforce transformation agenda.
* Experience in recruitment, selection and E&D over the last 3 years.
* Active involvement in appraisal processes.
* Knowledge of NHS structures and workforce matters.
* Licence to practice required for doctors.
Desirable employment / experience:
* Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
* Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education.
* Understanding of current health and social care and education policy.
