The successful candidate will be caring, a good communicator, and an independent nurse with strong clinical skills.
You will be responsible for the overnight care of students in a 2-bed unit, handling minor illnesses and injuries.
The role may also involve providing pastoral care and supporting students as they settle into university life.
Candidates must be a registered general nurse.
UNS is part of the University Medical Centre and is supported by a GP practice. It complements the services provided at UMC, with close collaboration, shared learning, and access to GP support.
Working hours include:
1. Tuesday 07:45 to 19:00
2. Wednesday 07:45 to 19:00
3. Alternate Thursdays 12:45 to 19:00
4. Sundays (2 out of 4) 07:45 to 20:00
5. Sundays (1 out of 4) 13:45 to 20:00
The University Nursing Service (UNS) is based on campus at the University of Kent. It is run and supported by the University Medical Centre and is available to all students and staff during the university's term time, approximately 31 weeks a year.
You will be part of a team of registered nurses providing care, support, well-being advice, and treatment for minor illnesses, injuries, and contraceptive needs.
