As this is an apprenticeship, we can only accept applicants who have had residence within the UK for 3 years or more. Due to funding rules, we can only offer positions for this apprenticeship to candidates who have no experience working as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker. Applicants must not hold a level 3 or higher qualification in a healthcare.
Main duties of the job
Being a Senior Healthcare Assistant is a valued role. You will support the delivery of personal care duties for patients and learn to complete clinical duties under supervision, including assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, continence aids, catheter and stoma care, monitoring patient output, catheter removal, moving and handling, mobility aids, patient positioning, skin integrity assessment, patient safety, specimen collection, physical measurements, observing patient condition, simple dressings, and venflon removal.
The role can be challenging, involving direct personal care and exposure to difficult situations. It’s not for everyone, but for the right candidates, providing support to patients will be rewarding.

Qualifications
* Numeracy and literacy skills at Level 1/Grade D/Grade 3 minimum.
* Willingness to work toward Level 2 in numeracy and literacy if not already achieved.
* Numeracy and literacy skills at Level 2/Grade A*-C/Grade 4-9.
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous healthcare work experience.
* Understanding of confidentiality.
* Understanding of health and safety in healthcare.
