Offer description

A lady from Newcastle Emlyn requires a Personal Assistant for 4.5 hours per week to be used flexibly. She needs assistance and support to attend appointments and social groups such as HUTS, and to support access and utilisation of bus services.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
2. Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
3. Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
4. Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
5. Providing companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation and social interaction.
6. Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
7. Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during your working hours.
8. Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
9. Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
10. Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately at (01267 228751).
11. Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if the employer needs medical assistance.


Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts

1. Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
2. Carry out all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
3. Be able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.


Job Working Environment

Working in the employer's home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.

1. Caring, patient and friendly.
2. Responsible, reliable and honest.
3. Proactive and self‑motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
4. Have good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
5. Good time‑keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer's requirements.
6. Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
7. Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
8. Be able to develop long‑term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
9. Have a full, clean driving licence and use of a car may be required, depending on the employer's needs and proximity.
10. Be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to use the vehicle within work hours.
11. Be prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer's needs.


Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)

A Disclosure Barring Service Check (DBS) / criminal record check will be required for this post. This will be completed on acceptance of the job offer.
