Band 8a Deputy Head of Patient Safety and Risk
The Deputy Head of Patient Safety and Risk is responsible for project managing several workstreams within the patient safety portfolio, working collaboratively with other programme managers and governance teams to deliver various service improvement projects.
Led by the Head of Patient Safety and Risk, the Deputy is an effective ambassador for the trust, demonstrating credibility, knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills to work with clinical, managerial, and support staff at all levels across the organisation. The post holder should have expertise in programme and project management processes, improvement methodologies, and a proactive 'can do' approach. They must be highly motivated, confident in managing challenging and changing workloads, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, bringing a strong customer service approach to their role.
The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day management of Patient Safety Events and overseeing all trust safety events. They lead a team to ensure that clinical and non-clinical staff have appropriate access and training. The post holder should have a strong working knowledge and experience in implementing and managing risk and safety, providing advice and support on clinical risk issues.
The role involves close collaboration with the quality governance, operational, and corporate management teams, as well as staff at all levels within the organisation.
