Job Title: Business Development Manager - Aerospace & Defence
Location: Maidenhead or Southam, UK (Hybrid with Frequent Travel)
Reports to: Commercial lead
Company: Hewland as part of HMC Group, a leading engineering and manufacturing company known for precision components and high-performance transmission systems, expanding its commercial team to develop opportunities in the global aerospace sector.
Role Purpose
To drive growth in the aerospace market by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities for Hewland and Hero Motors high-performance components and systems. This role requires strong technical insight, industry connections, and the commercial acumen to position Hewland as a trusted aerospace partner.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and engage with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and aerospace primes to grow the aerospace customer base.
* Develop and execute sector-specific sales strategies aligned with corporate goals.
* Lead end-to-end business development activities: prospecting, proposal development, contract negotiation, and onboarding.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to align technical solutions with customer needs.
* Represent Hewland and HMC at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and policy changes impacting the aerospace sector.
* Maintain accurate CRM records and prepare sales forecasts and performance reports.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven track record in business development, sales, or key account management in the aerospace industry.
* Strong network within aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers.
* Technical background (Engineering degree or equivalent experience) preferred.
* Experience with precision engineering or advanced manufacturing highly desirable.
* Familiarity with aerospace standards, certifications, and procurement cycles.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Experience in hybrid/electric propulsion, lightweight materials, or advanced drivetrains.
* Ability to work independently and strategically in a fast-paced technical environment.
* Strong commercial instincts with a long-term partnership mindset.
