Gbemi has an exciting opportunity for a highly creative, trend-driven freelance Womenswear Designer to play a key role in shaping collections for a bold, statement womenswear brand.
We are building a world of confident, sexy, It-girl fashion — rooted in strong silhouettes, standout graphics, vibrant colour, and print, with influences from streetwear and contemporary culture. We are looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas, strong design direction, and commercial awareness to every stage of the process. The position is offered on a full-time freelance basis for approximately 4 weeks, with flexibility to work remotely and occasional days in London.
Rate
* £115 per day
Key Responsibilities of the Womenswear Designer:
* Design and develop new womenswear pieces across all product categories using CAD via Illustrator
* Create detailed sketches, technical drawings, and production-ready techpacks
* Consistently generate new design ideas, aligned with the Gbemi aesthetic
* Research and interpret trends across Instagram, TikTok, Depop, catwalks, and cultural moments
* Source fabrics, colours, prints, and silhouettes with a strong focus on bold graphics and statement pieces
* Develop mood boards and collection concepts that reflect the brand direction
* Work closely with the Creative Director
* Collaborate with print/graphic designer to guide print direction and placement
* Bring innovative and commercially strong product ideas to the table
What Gbemi is looking for:
* Experience in womenswear design
* Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD
* Ability to work at pace while maintaining high attention to detail
* Strong understanding of garment construction and technical design for factories
* Proactive problem solver with experience working with manufacturers
* Strong eye for colour, print, typography and silhouette
* Ability to translate trends into bold, commercial, wearable collections

* Passionate about statement fashion, graphics, colour, and print
* Trend-aware with the ability to bring original, directional ideas
