Adderley Green Medical Services is looking to recruit an additional receptionist to join our established team. The role is full time however we may consider part time or job share - working across our Meir & Longton practice sites.
It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has some flexibility to provide additional cover during periods of holiday or sickness.
We are looking for confident and self- motivated persons, who have good communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work well in a sometimes pressurised environment.
We are looking for staff who preferably have previous experience in a General Practice setting, however training will be provided to suitable candidates. Strong IT skills will be required and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Our clinical system is Emis Web
Main duties of the job
You will receive, assist and care navigate patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.You will also provide some general administrative assistance to the practice team, whilst projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken bymembers of the Practice Receptionist Team may include any or all of the itemsin the following list. Duties may bevaried from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager or SeniorReceptionist dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffinglevels:
Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security inaccordance with Practice protocols. Prior to leaving on an evening, ensure thebuilding is secured.
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided topatients and any other visitors to the Practice.
Deal with all general enquiries efficiently and courteously and whennecessary in private, explain procedures and make new and follow-upappointments.
Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patientswith no prior appointment but who needurgent consultations are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner by carenavigating patients and signposting to the the appropraite health care professional or other community services available.
Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patientsand those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Processing telephone requests ,in person requests for appointments,visits, telephone consultations, online consultations, email, system messages and ensuring callers are directed to theappropriate healthcare professional.
Take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriatedelivery.
Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuringcareful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to DutyDoctor. Printing summary printouts forvisits.
Photocopying.
Viewing the Internet/online services for messages and dealing with them.
Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready forcollection by the patient within 48 hours.
Print blood forms.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General MedicalServices) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
Enter/amend patient information onto the computer as required.
Invite patients to attend for screening appointments
Completion of forms as necessary.
Process samples received from patients following the specimen handling protocol.
Dealing with urgent results for the GPs.
Liaising with local hospital etc as required.
Covering for absent colleagues as and when necessary.
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post asrequested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
