You as an Assistant Divisional Controller will:
* Support the Divisional Controller in overseeing the General Accounting team.
* Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., ASPE) and internal policies.
* Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
* Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and variances.
* Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A.
* Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.
* Support the preparation and review of various tax filings (e.g., PST, HST, GST, multiple provinces).
* Help manage accounting systems and software implementations or upgrades.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
* Supervise and mentor junior accounting.
Is this the right role for you?
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management.
* Supervisory experience (3+ direct reports).
* Construction industry experience preferred.
* Experience in corporate finance or public accounting is an asset.
* Experience with the tracking and evaluation of inventory (e.g., aggregates).
* Experience in the administration of Capital Assets (Fleet and Construction Equipment).
* Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems).
* Advanced Excel skills (e.g., PowerPivot and PowerQuery) and familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
