We are currently working with a fantastic dealership in the Bury St Edmunds area who are looking to recruit an experienced Vehicle Technician. The ideal candidate must have Level 3 qualification and preferably possess diagnostic experience. MOT tester accreditation is a further advantage.

About the role
As a Vehicle Technician, you will report to the Workshop Controller and be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles. Your work will align with the repair process, meet customer expectations, and consider both commercial and operational requirements, all while adhering to high industry and brand standards.
Core Responsibilities as Vehicle Technician
1. Review customer requirements provided by Service Advisors/Executives, ensuring sufficient information is available to complete repairs.
2. Identify required parts to resolve customer issues and order them as needed.
3. Determine labour operation times for repairs to support the Service Advisor/Executive in providing accurate estimates.
4. Carry out repairs in accordance with workshop manuals.
5. Write clear and concise job cards.
6. Perform Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL) on every vehicle.
7. Liaise with relevant staff to optimise time and material usage.
8. Record and clock all time spent, following warranty procedures.
9. Conduct road tests and ensure personal quality control.
10. Protect customer property using protective covers at all times.
11. Stay updated and work within the Insurance Code of Business guidelines for the sale of Approved Warranty and Assistance.
12. Maintain technical and job knowledge through educational opportunities and reading manufacturer publications.
13. Achieve service KPIs, including productivity, efficiency, and utilisation.
14. Take ownership of personal development to meet business needs.
15. Complete the Bronze Qualification standard within 1 year of employment.
Salary and Hours
Salary: £27,500 - £32,000 basic per annum depending on experience, plus OTE.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch, and alternate Saturdays. Overtime paid at 1.5x.
