CNC Miller Programmer, Setter & Operator (3 & 4 axis)
Our client has an excellent opportunity for a CNC Miller Programmer, Setter, and Operator. You must be experienced in the aerospace engineering sector, working with high‑tolerance parts. You will be required to program, set, and run a variety of first‑operation machine tools, including CNC mills and other fixed or sliding‑head machines, in accordance with health and safety legislation. You will coordinate programming and setting to ensure a satisfactory first off and will review current product ranges to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Core Skills and Attributes
* Strong understanding of aerospace standards.
* Programme, set and run mills (including HAAS and Bridgeport).
* Desirable: run and set 1st and 2nd‑operation machining tools.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Strong measurement skills using varied tooling.
* Attention to detail, numeracy, and quality performance.
Responsibilities
* Program, set and run 1st‑operation CNC mills (Bridgeport with Heidenhelm controls and Haas with Fanuc).
* Desirable: set and run CNC machines with fixed head, sliding head, lathes and bar feeders (Dooson, Hardinge, Mori, Star).
* Support 2nd‑operation machinery (thread rollers, grinding, part markers, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers, deburrers).
* Work confidently with aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel.
* Coordinate all programming and setting activities with other existing setters.
* Carry out first‑off and job‑run inspection of 2nd‑operation machine parts.
* Carry out first‑off buddy checks and job‑run inspection of 1st and 2nd‑operation machine parts.
* Report scrap/rework and suggest improvements to the Production Manager.
* Manufacture good quality products in line with agreed standards and quality procedures.
