We have a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacist to join our well-established clinical pharmacy team and help provide excellent care to patients in the Adult Forensic Service based at Prestwich. Following investment in our pharmacy service and implementation of our Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system, this is a fantastic time to join our expanding team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work across the directorate supporting the development of both the service, and the junior pharmacists who provide day to day clinical services to the area. You will develop and deliver excellent pharmaceutical services to patients with a wide range of often complex medical problems. You will participate in ward rounds, provide expert medicines advice to staff and patients, review medication incidents and develop clinical guidelines. You will perform a pivotal role in the provision of education and training to the multi-disciplinary team and ensure key governance and medicines management priorities are met.

Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team whilst also managing your own workload. You must be dynamic, resilient, and be able to manage and motivate others. You will have the ability to influence the multidisciplinary team and engage with key stakeholders. You should have previous experience of working within mental health.

You will be supported in your own professional development, including developing your leadership skills. Successful candidates will take part in the on-call and Bank Holiday rotas.

Person specification


Qualifications

* 4 years master degree or equivalent
* Member of GPhC
* Post Graduate Clinical Diploma


Experience

* Previous Hospital Pharmacy experience
* Previous Mental Health experience
* Experience of Managing Staff
* Delivery of training at post graduate level


Knowledge

* Have knowledge of clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management
* Have up to date knowledge of mental health therapeutics
* Have knowledge of primary and secondary care


Skills

* Have the ability to interpret and communicate highly complex data
* Have the ability to manage change


Other requirements

* Cope with conflicting pressures/ deadlines Excellent written / verbal communication skills
* Ability to motivate, negotiate and influence
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with broad range of disciplines
