GMP Manufacturing Ltd is a growing organisation based in Hull, holding a Manufacturing Licence and Medical Devices Certification. We supply a diverse portfolio of medicinal products and medical devices to multiple markets, underpinned by strong regulatory compliance and quality standards.
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly capable Technical Manager to play a key role in driving technical excellence, product lifecycle management, and continuous improvement across our operations. This is a pivotal role reporting to the Technical & Operations Director, responsible for leading the Technical Services function and supporting the full product lifecycle from development and transfer through to commercial manufacturing and optimisation. You will be instrumental in ensuring products are successfully introduced, validated, manufactured, and continuously improved in line with GMP and regulatory requirements, while supporting the organisation’s growth ambitions.

Job Summary
The Technical Manager will be responsible for leading the Technical Services function, supporting manufacturing operations, new product introductions, technical transfers, process improvements, and validation activities across the business.
The role requires strong technical and analytical capability, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments while ensuring compliance with GMP standards, quality requirements, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop/Refine technical process and tools to suit the growing company’s requirement
* Lead New Product Introduction (NPI), development, remediation, and lifecycle management projects
* Manage technical transfer activities from development into routine manufacture
* Oversee process scale-up, validation programmes, and manufacturing readiness activities
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to manufacturing operations
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency
* Generate technical documentation as part of the technical activities
* Monitor manufacturing performance and identify opportunities to reduce waste and cost
* Lead root cause analysis investigations and support deviations, CAPAs, and change control
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams
* Support customer projects, audits, and technical reviews
* Review and approve key technical documentation (validation protocols, reports, risk assessments)
* Lead, coach, and develop the Technical Services team
Qualifications
* Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or similar discipline
* Experience within pharmaceutical, medical device, healthcare, cosmetics, or FMCG manufacturing
* Experience with NPI, technical transfer, validation, and industrialisation projects
* Previous team leadership or people management experience
* Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems
* Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
