​ ​ Job Title : Seasonal Laboratory Analysts Location : Park Farm Campus, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9AT Salary : £24,455 per annum Contract: Fixed term - 13 July to 11 September 2026 Working hours : 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday – 0800 to 1600) Closing date: 7 June 2026 A summer job that will keep you busy and learning new skills! Want to spend the summer keeping busy, developing practical skills and contributing to important crop research? We are recruiting Seasonal Laboratory Analysts to join our Analytical Services Department. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of working in a laboratory, building valuable professional skills in teamwork, time management and practical problem solving. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Seasonal Laboratory Analyst you will support a range of activities within the Grain Quality/Biochemistry, Seed Pathology and Official Seed Testing (OSTS) teams which can include: • Sample registration, administration and preparation • Testing using a wide range of protocols and analytical techniques • Media preparation • Setting up of various microbiological tests ​ You will assist the laboratory in delivering grain and produce quality data from national field trials across a wide range of crop species and (if working within the Pathology team) will assist in a number of diagnostic tests both for farmers and breeders and also for large commercial studies. Location The role is based at Niab, Park Farm Campus, Villa Road, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9AT, 4 miles from Cambridge city centre. Free on-site parking and linked by cycle ways and regular buses to Cambridge city centre and railway station. Close to Junction 32 of A14, with easy access to M11, A10 and A11. ABOUT YOU We are looking for individuals who may have an interest in agriculture and plant sciences and are keen to learn, have a good eye for detail, and can follow strict protocols with consistency. Successful candidates will demonstrate clear and confident verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
