The DigIT team is a newly formed unit within Rolls Royce SMR, poised for rapid growth across multiple regions. We aim to develop a greenfield digital technology capability that will significantly impact our business. Our goal is to mature this function into a trusted partner, providing top-tier technology solutions.
Role Purpose
As Rolls Royce SMR expands and secures new contracts, there is a need to enhance our digital and supporting capabilities. The Head of Engineering and Operations Delivery will support the deployment of digital and technological solutions across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and the broader Enterprise, adapting to shifting demands. This role involves leading the delivery of a new digital landscape to meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and oversee delivery plans integrating people, processes, and technology for enterprise-wide systems, collaborating with Business and DigIT leadership.
2. Lead large-scale enterprise programs, promoting effective adoption of technology solutions to improve customer experience and align business processes, people, and technology.
3. Partner with the business to understand strategic goals and external customer needs, developing business cases that leverage technology for desired outcomes.
4. Manage a significant budget, lead a team, and oversee third-party organizations as directed by the CIO.
5. Enhance the function’s contribution to a safe and profitable business.
6. Support business maturity by ensuring agile and structured delivery, guiding change management, governance, and controls.
7. Define technology requirements and roadmaps in collaboration with CTO and other leaders.
8. Work with the CTO to implement and develop new digital capabilities, including data analytics.
9. Implement a product approach to technology solutions.
10. Coordinate with IT Infrastructure and Operations to ensure service delivery aligns with business needs.
11. Maintain and improve systems supporting key processes.
12. Develop and standardize approaches within the IMS framework.
13. Ensure system resilience and continuity, designing with future needs in mind, in partnership with IT Infrastructure and Operations.
14. Rationalize and standardize applications and data to optimize costs and effectiveness.
15. Lead a competence area across the Group, standardizing practices like Service and Project Management globally.
16. Collaborate with other leaders to ensure alignment across the technology landscape.
17. Participate in leadership initiatives to transform and mature the technology function.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
* A versatile technology leader with experience in change and transformation, preferably in a startup environment moving towards maturity.
* Over 10 years of broad IT experience, including strategy, architecture, cybersecurity, build, and service delivery.
* Comfortable engaging with senior executives and the Board, with a strong customer focus.
* Proven experience managing multiple IT change projects and large-scale delivery across platforms like O365, SAP, Teamcenter.
* Experience delivering technology solutions for hybrid, multi-country workforces.
* Track record in leading business transformation programs with disciplined governance and project management methodologies.
* Cross-functional understanding of technology and business challenges.
Highly Desirable
* Experience in nuclear, construction, or project-based industries.
* Leadership of geographically dispersed teams in a matrix organization.
* Innovative mindset with a history of delivering competitive process and efficiency improvements.
* Expertise in transitioning organizations towards digital technology adoption.
Beneficial Experience, Training, or Qualifications
* Formal project or program management qualifications (e.g., APMP, Prince2, MSP).
* Continuous improvement certifications (e.g., Six Sigma) are advantageous.
