What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Planning Enforcement Officer REF: Teignbridge 5278843 Pay rate: £34.00 per hour PAYE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months Working Arrangement: Available to attend the office at least 2 days per week. On those days they will be required to attend the office and visit sites. Admin can be done remotely once trained. Full UK driving licence and ability to undertake site visits. The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an Planning Enforcement Officer to investigate and report on complaints relating to planning and development issues, working collaboratively with the Business Manager Strategic Place, Principal Planning Officer, Senior Planning Enforcement Officer, and colleagues across the Council. Key Responsibilities: Carry out site inspections and undertake detailed investigations of planning records and site histories. Monitor compliance with planning conditions and approved plans, updating records and databases with outcomes and actions taken. Take formal statements in accordance with Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) requirements. Prepare reports for Planning Committee and attend meetings as required. Compile evidence and prepare statements for enforcement appeals. Provide planning and enforcement advice to the public, councillors, and colleagues, ensuring a professional and customer-focused service. Liaise effectively with members of the public, Parish and Town Councils, elected Members, other departments, external authorities, and agencies on enforcement and related matters. On occasion, handle a range of planning applications and appeals arising from enforcement investigations or as directed by senior officers. What the client is looking for: Experience of investigating planning breaches or similar regulatory work. Strong report-writing and evidence-gathering skills. Ability to interpret and apply planning legislation and policy. Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing. Good IT skills, including database management. Full UK driving licence and ability to undertake site visits.
