The job holder (JH) is responsible for providing engineering support and capability to the Electrical Services Group.
To enable successful delivery of operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Culham site power supply infrastructure and low voltage control systems, ensuring compliance with current legislation and codes of practice.
To lead small to medium plant related work packages associated with complex HV/LV electrical equipment, minor installation/modification tasks, technical studies including preparation of documentation.
To perform fault-finding activities on the electrical plant and ensure that proposed solutions are technically robust.
The job holder shall be expected to be at a competency needed to supervise work on electrical systems.
Accountabilities:
1. Lead specific work undertaken by the Electrical Services Group and all associated documentation. Ensure it follows current legislation and codes of practice and delivered safely and effectively.
2. Take full ownership of relevant work packages ensuring all technical criteria are satisfied and that work can be carried out in a safe and cost-effective manner.
3. Take responsibility for design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of assigned electrical systems.
4. Prepare engineering procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and local rules in support of the Electrical Services Group's requirements.
5. Interpret supplier requirements and submit related documentation for review and approval, considering costs are controlled within Group budgetary constraints.
6. Provide assurance by calculation, analysis, and review of existing electrical switchgear and cabling.
7. Act as Owner and be responsible for items of plant/equipment at the individual item or sub-system level.
8. Plan maintenance and agree schedules with operations, integrating them into the CMMS to optimize workflow and resource allocation.
9. Guide and support team members on CMMS utilization and maintenance planning processes.
10. Integrate planned maintenance with reactive or corrective maintenance to ensure effective issue resolution.
11. Advise on electrical design of equipment to ensure compliance, consulting with Subject Matter Experts as needed.
12. Support customers in producing compliant designs and resolving issues promptly to meet program objectives.
13. Ensure PM records are accurate, complete, and stored per UKAEA policy, maintaining data integrity.
14. Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance planning processes for efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
15. Maintain documentation of maintenance activities and generate reports to track progress and compliance.
16. Provide guidance on CMMS utilization and foster skill development within the team.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Qualified electrician with an electrical craft apprenticeship or HNC in electrical discipline.
* BS7671 18th Edition pass.
* City & Guilds 2395 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection).
* Significant experience as an electrician in industrial/commercial environments.
* Supervisory and leadership experience.
* Ability to work safely according to written safe systems of work.
* Problem-solving skills.
* Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively.
