Role Overview:
We are seeking a capable and proactive Assistant Operations Manager to support our nationwide operations. This is a full-time, self-employed position, with a clear progression path into the
Operations Manager role within 6–12 months as part of a planned internal handover.
The successful candidate will assist in day-to-day operational management, ensuring site activities are running efficiently, materials are managed correctly, and works are completed to standard. This is a hands-on, varied role that requires good organisational ability, strong communication skills, and the initiative to manage multiple moving parts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct site inspections and quality control checks across multiple sites.
* Assist with the planning and scheduling of works using ServiceMate software.
* Order and coordinate delivery of materials for ongoing and upcoming projects.
* Carry out site surveys and prepare documentation for client and internal use.
* Liaise with clients, engineers, and suppliers to ensure smooth job progression.
* Monitor progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
* Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and client requirements.
* Support the current Operations Manager during the handover period.
Requirements:
* Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle (fuel costs fully covered).
* Previous experience in maintenance, construction, or operational management preferred.
* Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently in a reactive and fast-moving environment.
* Competent with digital systems and record keeping.
* Will be required to use:
* QuickBooks (for job and cost management)
* ServiceMate (for scheduling and bookings)
* Various client-specific software platforms (training will be provided).
* Confident, professional manner when dealing with clients and site personnel.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:30pm (some flexibility required).
Employment Basis:
* Self-employed, full-time role.
* All fuel costs covered.
* Progression to full-time Operations Manager within 6–12 months.
Location:
Based from our Maidenhead workshop and storage facility, with nationwide travel as required.
