Position
Service Engineer - UCLH - London (On Site)
Scope Of Responsibilities
* Providing highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site operation, corrective and preventive maintenance of a proton therapy equipment and ancillary devices
* Controlling and ensuring that Proton Therapy (PT) device is performing according to specification
* Reporting and documenting key performance indicators on PT devices
* Troubleshooting, corrective and preventive maintenance
* Working on highly complex installation systems in Proton Therapy, including CT Scan and Radiology technology devices, directly on the customer site with no daily travelling required
* Assisting the customer with Vacuum technology, motion control and robotics
* Acting as a trainer to the customer personnel on the Varian Product
* Working in a small team requiring a minimum of supervision
* May be required to specialise in specific technical areas and have some level of cross-functional and overall system knowledge
* Preparing detailed records of installation and upgrade work performed into company information systems to ensure accurate updated customer installation information is available to other Varian Medical Systems functions
* Maintaining a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to VMS guidelines to perform activities under the safest working conditions
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience within automation, or medical device industry
* Profound knowledge in electronic and mechanical domains, preferably 3 to 5 years dedicated experience
* Strong hardware and software technical experience
* Electrical engineering or IT or Mechanical background – Electronic or complex IT and software environment
* Willingness to work in a rotating shift pattern and during irregular working hours
* Demonstrates a customer focused attitude
* Articulate and skilled in interpersonal communication
* Fluency in English, both written and spoken
* Familiar with business tools such as E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Other Desired Skills And Knowledge
* Preferred experience with proton systems
* Strong interest in new technology and learning new systems – continuous learning curve
* Sound computer usage and debugging skills
* Knowledge of networks and networking techniques
* Solid understanding of imaging systems
* Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired
* Be based 1 hour from site
* Able to work a shift pattern – which includes Nights & Weekends (these will be service weekends during the year, normally 4 plus emergencies as and when they occur)
* Typical shift pattern would be 2 weeks on a day shift between 7am – 3pm or 3pm – 11am
* Night shift would be every 5-6 weeks you would do a night shift from a Sunday at 11pm – 7am the following day
