This post is part-time, 23 hours per week and fixed term until 20 June 2026. The salary stated above is the pro-rata amount, the full-time salary would be £28,246 per annum. Due to part time hours a job share will not be considered.We are seeking to appoint an assistant studio supervisor, skilled in Fashion Design, to provide customer-focused technical support within our Fashion studios and supervise open hour studio access outside main teaching hours of 9am-5pm. The successful post-holder will also be supporting the core activities of the colleagues and students at the Westminster School of Arts and will be joining a dynamic team of four highly skilled technicians. The postholder will oversee evening and weekend access to BA Fashion Design studios, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, monitoring lone working, and managing studio shutdown procedures. Other key responsibilities include maintaining the fabric cupboards by organising and cataloguing donations, as well as managing the block libraries, issuing and returning blocks, maintaining order, and coordinating with pattern cutters on block restoration. Additionally, the role also supports the Graduate Technician in delivering the digital plotting service. They should demonstrate a strong interest in garment construction and proficiency with basic flatbed sewing machines and overlockers. As the role involves supervisory responsibilities, candidates must be reliable, professional, and possess strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to an inclusive team environment. The successful applicant will be a current University of Westminster BA Fashion Design or MA Menswear student undertaking an industry placement year.
