Job Description:
Better places, thriving communities.
Are you interested in working within the criminal justice system? In a core role supporting the police?
Do you have the empathy to work with vulnerable people?
We are looking for people who want to make a difference working alongside the Police in custody suites, caring for detainees – from supporting them during custody, completing forensic samples, and working with other agencies to support detainees' rehabilitation.
Previous experience working within police/security/armed forces would be beneficial, but we will train you in full on an Initial Training Course even without previous experience.
You will need to use a computer and various programs competently during your working day.
The role requires flexibility to work not only in your base Custody suite but across an assigned region in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.
What you can earn:
* Salary of £13.20, rolling shift pattern
* Rotas planned 2 years in advance so you can plan your life. (Average 21 hours per week).
* Refer a colleague who successfully joins us? Earn £ each time!
What are the minimum requirements?
* Previous Police/Security/forces experience would be beneficial
* Reasonable level of spoken and written English and basic numeracy
* Competent in IT and using a computer
* Full valid driving licence
* Must have RTW in UK, lived in UK with British Passport or ILR for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months
* All candidates are subject to police vetting checks - a clean driving/criminal record is essential
A little more about the role…
The custody suites can be energetic, with no two shifts the same. While detained, we provide individuals with physical, mental healthcare, and wellbeing needs. You will escort detainees, make recorded observations as per individual plans, and work with colleagues and Police to manage risks of harm.
You will work in a small team alongside Police Officers, with support from experienced Senior Custody Detention Officers for learning.
Training
After passing our selection and vetting, you will complete a 3-week initial training course (ITC) Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm, paid in full. Continued development follows.
Opportunities for growth:
We support skill development to deliver this rewarding yet challenging role with integrity and respect.
* Opportunities to progress to Senior Custody Detention Officer, managing teams
Our market-leading benefits include:
* Virtual GP for you and your household
* Financial wellbeing via Salary Finance (access earned pay early, loans)
* Flexible lifestyle benefits platform, Choices (extra holiday days, insurance, tech purchases)
* High street discounts, gym memberships, cycle-to-work scheme
* Life cover, enhanced pension contributions, share plans
* Recognition awards, cash prizes, and top prizes of £10,000
We value our employees' experience and offer diverse training and development resources.
