Overview
Support Worker Young People role at Outside Company. The position is based in Weston Super Mare on a long-term contract, working with a young person aged 16 to 19 on a 1 to 1 basis to support their transition into independent living. The role requires commitment and stability to enable relationships to form.
Responsibilities
* Support the young person on a 1 to 1 basis with their transition into independent living
* Foster positive relationships with family, peers, neighbours, staff and other professionals
* Assist with personal and domestic hygiene
* Support budgeting
* Support physical and emotional health
* Support training, education, employment and recreation
Service Context
The service supports young people aged 16 to 18 years who require 24-hour independent living support. Shifts available include 24-hour shifts (0800-2300 plus a sleep-in).
Hours and Schedule
* You can choose how many hours per week to work; part-time and full-time options available
* A minimum of 1 shift per week is required
Pay and Benefits
* Pay: £12.21 - £13.70 per hour
* Benefits: casual dress, free training, free DBS renewal every year, on-site parking
* Regular ongoing weekly work expected to last a minimum of 2 years
Ideal Candidate
* NVQ level 3 in children and young people, or equivalent qualification (e.g., Counselling, Psychology Degree, Nursing Diploma)
* At least 6 months paid experience in a children/young people or similar support worker role in the UK
* Experience as a support worker for young people
* Motivated, flexible and reliable
* Current DBS or willing to undertake a new one
