Director of Strategic Accounts - Pharma Services UK/EU

Scope of the role:

Our client based in Cambridge UK and the US, are seeking a Director of Strategic Accounts with a focus on both Oncology and Pharmaceutical sales and account development.

You will lead development activities that best address customer requirements, coordinating with other areas of the business and creating a robust customer pipeline of both existing and prospective businesses in order to meet wider company goals.


Main responsibilities:

* Take the lead on the strategy for expansion and collaboration opportunities with major pharmaceutical companies within your territory (UK/EU).
* Form and develop relations with key customer stakeholders (lab managers, procurement, scientific leaders).
* Coordinate with sales professionals within the business to ensure successful achievement of company objectives and missions.
* Identify and craft partnership opportunities between the business and key pharma companies, for example in clinical trials and product development.
* Use you commercial and market acumen, to analyse the competitive landscape within assigned accounts to understand trends and provide customer feedback to the SLT.
* Monitor sales performance regularly including remedial actions, to ensure objectives are met. Reporting pipeline movement to senior leaders.
* Develop and roll-out a business plan for your territory inclusive of budgets, travel, goal setting and details of how you’ll manage your territory.
* Craft SoW for customer projects, bespoke for customer needs, with support of Pharma services team.
* Supporting the wider business with guidance relating to the account development strategy and landscape which will inform future direction for commercial direction.


Your background:

* BSc in a Life Science, Biology or business-related discipline, or equivalent.
* In excess of 5 years direct account management, from organisations which operate in a laboratory setting.
* You must have worked with Pharmaceutical and Oncology-focused companies with a history of proven performance that has met and exceeded expectations in these sectors.
* You bring a strong awareness of pharma services and an understanding of the requirements of customers in this area.
* Able to maintain a robust and current level of market knowledge, customer interaction and product awareness, such as to accomplish marketing objectives.
* Excellent knowledge of molecular pathology, oncology, haematology, chemotherapeutics and targeted agents.
* Demonstrable strong negotiation, influencing and communication skills, including active listening and problem-solving as well as ability to close.
* Well-developed presentation and engagement skills. Able to tailor your approach to customer expectations.
* Proficient with MS Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Salesforce.
* Demonstrated measurable revenue generation at either a diagnostic, pharmaceutical or relevant biotechnology company.
* This role requires a minimum of 50% travel in the UK and EU territories.
