The role
New Era, the world's leading headwear company is looking for a Product Development Intern to work at our European HQ in Milton Keynes, to assist our apparel product development team.

The role of Apparel Product Development Intern requires insight to and actively supporting throughout the entire product creation process from concept to delivery. Working closely with the wider PD team as well as Product Management, Design & Sourcing. The Product Development teams' main goal is to get the best quality product at the best cost point and delivered on time.

Responsibilities
Support the Product Development team to coordinate the product creation process from initial concept through to production for the apparel product line, ensuring on time development and delivery.
Work closely with Apparel Product team on product development needs, supporting all areas of the product development department - including Proto Reviews, Handovers, Supplier & Internal meetings.
Support the PD team to build tech packs – create specs, bill of materials, detailed/technical drawings etc. Working towards assigned styles and product ownership of Sock Category.
Track and facilitate sampling and prototyping for products for PD team & suppliers.
Analyse, measure, and comment on prototypes under the guidance of the product development team (incl. checking fabric colours against approved lab dips, reviewing artwork executions and applications) to ensure that quality and construction is aligned with brand needs and accurately reflect minimum makes.
Research market trends, new fabrics/techniques, and consumer needs throughout the development process

Skills and Experience
Undergraduate or recent graduate in a Design or Garment Technical related discipline
Technical understanding of garment construction and materials
Understanding of apparel engineering and manufacturing processes and testing
Understanding of patterns, fit and grade rules for men's and women's wear
Knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and PLM packages would be an advantage
