What you’ll be doing
As a qualified Dispensing Optician, you will be providing a high level of customer care and expert advice to make a real difference to our customers and keep them coming back. You will work in one of our stores, reporting to the Store Manager.
Key responsibilities
* Providing clinical support in store for regulated dispensing
* Inspiring your Optical team by sharing your knowledge to offer the very best service.
* Listening to the needs of customers and offer expertise and advice.
* Helping our customers to choose the correct eyewear and offer guidance to ensure our customers receive the best product suited to their needs.
* Supporting the team to deliver an efficient model day and operational processes to ensure that the business trades legally.
* Providing expert knowledge for patients with more specialist requirements.
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
* Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
* Passion for your own learning and development, completing all CPD training as part of the GOC requirement.

Need To Know
We’re looking for a Dispensing Optician to join our Ashton-under-Lyne store, with full-time (37.5 hours) or part-time options available. The store is a steady practice located in the centre of Ashton town, serving a mixed patient demographic. The practice is based within a Boots UK store with Hearing Care and has 2 testing rooms with 25-minute testing times. You’ll be joining a team of 14 colleagues, including 3 resident Optometrists and 1 Pre-Registration Optometrist. The store was recently refitted in September 2025, providing a modern clinical and retail environment. Store opening hours are 9:00–17:30, with flexible weekend working required, typically one weekend day. Newly qualified Dispensing Opticians will be considered, and the team is looking for someone who is keen to become a long-term member of the practice. The store is well connected by public transport, located close to the tram stop and bus station, with parking available in nearby town centre car parks.
